Grant Writer/Coordinator

Administrative Support Staff

iGEM is looking to hire an experienced Grant Writer and Coordinator. This person will report directly to the Director of iGEM and will be responsible for, and assist in, all grant writing efforts on behalf of iGEM and its many related projects and research. This person will need the ability to prioritize, and work on numerous grant projects, as well as maintain tracking and reporting information for each. Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing, computer, and database management skills. Previous experience with a track record of securing new funding opportunities for academic research projects is a plus, as well as the ability to work within tight deadline parameters.

job responsibilities include

  • Write and submit grant proposals for government, corporate and private sector applications, for both current funders and new prospects.
  • Research new grant funding opportunities that are potentially in alignment with iGEM’s research strategy and mission, as well as make recommendations on appropriate prospects.
  • Manage and track the grants process for both new and current grants, including producing all required support data and materials in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Director, in cultivating relationships with relevant corporations and foundations.
  • Serve as go to person for organizational information required for grant applications.
  • Work with iGEM staff, faculty, and others to develop grant requests that are consistent with iGEM’s needs, research, and mission.
  • Work with Finance, and other various departments at Temple University to ensure accurate reporting of financial and program information.
  • Assist, as needed, on other iGEM related projects and assignments.

job qualifications

  • Doctoral degree or equivalent experience in grant writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient with EndNote.
  • Must be able to work independently, or with a team of various professionals and/or faculty to get projects accomplished.
  • Must be a self-motivated, with excellent communication, listening, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
