B.S. in Data Science (genomics and bioinformatics)
The Bachelors of Science in Data Science with a concentration in Genomics and Bioinformatics is offered by the Department of Computer and Information Science within the Temple College of Science and Technology.
Data Science is an interdisciplinary field of study focused on managing, processing, and analyzing large quantities of data collected in various forms.
Over the past decade, the emergence of next-generation sequencing technologies has facilitated the rapid growth of genomic data. The Genomics and Bioinformatics concentration provides a strong background in mathematics, computational thinking, and biological data analysis, and will enable students to analyze large quantities of data and discover new biological insights. This specialization is intended for students interested in biology, ecology, evolution, human health and disease, and precision medicine.
